Do I need a diagnosis or Gender Incongruence of Gender Dysphoria to attend Speech and Language Therapy?

No, you do not need a diagnosis of Gender Incongruence or Gender Dysphoria to access voice therapy.


I am a young person can I refer myself for Speech and Language Therapy?

You can ask a parent, guidance or someone with parental responsibility to book an initial appointment for you.


I am a parent, guardian or social worker of a young person who would like to work on their voice what should I do?

You can read more about the services offered on the website, email us with specific questions and arrange an initial assessment.


I am 18 years or older can I be seen by youth gender voice clinic?

The Youth Gender Voice Clinic was established for proving specialist support people under the age of 18.

If you are over 18 and have support needs such as moderate or severe dyslexia, pathological demand avoidance or severe anxiety. Please contact to help decide the most appropriate care plan for you.


What days does youth gender voice clinic run?

Youth gender voice clinic is currently running appointments 2 Fridays and 2 Sundays a month.


Does ygvc do online appointments?

Yes, our appointments are online by default.


Do you do in person appointments?

Yes, for an additional fee in person appointments are available please contact sarah@ygvc.co.uk  


What will speech therapy be like?

Your voice programme will be tailored to your individual goals.

 A standard session is 50 minutes and will include

    • Introduction of the session aims

    • Review of previous practice goals

    • Setting of new practice goals

    • Voice therapy exercises

    • Opportunities to asks questions

    • Conclusion or reflective activity

You will receive a handout of the exercises completed in your session.


Do you accept insurance?

No, at this time youth gender voice clinic does not accept insurance.
